Avmax Creates FAA and TCCA STC Solution for DHC-8 ADS-B Out Compliance
Calgary, Alberta (November 18, 2015) — Avmax is happy to announce the receipt of a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 25 Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) in conjunction with their Transport Canada Civil Aviation Administration (TCCA) STC approval of its ADS-B Out DO-260B ADS-B solution in the Bombardier Dash 8 100/200/300 aircraft.

The installation of this ADS-B Out solution improves flight efficiency and increases airspace capacity. Providing ATC a clear image of the actual separation between aircraft allowing controllers to avoid inefficient vectoring commands to maintain separation. It assists aircraft to move to optimal operational altitudes in remote areas, and allows pilots to receive changes to more fuel-efficient cruise altitude. ADS-B Out provides:

Reduction in emissions and noise through continuous descent and curved approaches

The STC approval, provides for a standalone ADS-B Out solution by retrofit of the two existing transponders with the Rockwell Collins TDR-94(D) Mode S Transponders, retaining existing control head and antennas. The STC installation generally takes four to six days to complete.
